Yeah, We like the Doctor

Tyler drew this before Christmas last year. Too cool.

I know that I have some unusual kids. They are too cute to be mine for one - I always tell people that it was the darnedest thing: all three switched at birth! And for another, they are too smart for their own good. Although, I'm not sure what to make of them after yesterday.
Pulling out of the drive, my oldest said that we have a "wood-trapped" house. (What the hell does that mean? Our house is brick!) I asked him to explain, fully expecting to have to correct him on something. He said that the house on the right is wood and the house on the left is wood, but our house is brick. So we have a wood-trapped house!
I personally never thought about it that way. We are aware that ours is the only brick house on our street! (Even that does not ease the House from Hell Curse!)
Another funny thing came out of my daughter's mouth not 20 minutes later after we dropped off the boys at school. She's 2 and is really beginning to talk well enough to have a conversation (something I couldn't say about the boys at that age - mom's school speech therapist was right, boys do learn to speak clearly slower than girls!)
Anyway, Mykela said, "Bye, Tyler and Joey!" I had a warm tummy moment and told her that she was such a sweet little sister. She looked at me with a smile and said, "I'm not a little sister. I'm Mykela!" Bossy little thing!
Someone told me a long time ago that she keeps a journal with cute things that her daughter does or says. It's a wonderful idea. But for me, that's it, just an idea. She only has one child, a daughter almost 2 years old. I have three children: two boys, 7 and 4 (or will be August 31st and 30th) and one daughter, 2. I can't even keep up with their baby books. It's sad, really.
But one day, our oldest, Tyler, said something that I jotted down. I recently found it while cleaning off my desk for the millionth time this year.
"I just thought of it off the top of my pants!"
I don't remember what the whole conversation was. But I do remember that we were praising him for a great idea that he'd had. (Do I remember what it was? Nope. But he comes up with them rather frequently. He's got a better great idea file than his parents!)
We think he was getting two lines mixed up. "Off the top of my head" and "By the seat of my pants." (Where he heard these? No clue.)
But after praising him he simply replies . . . beaming the whole time . . . "I thought of it off the top of my pants."
Kids say the cutest things sometimes...
